Tasmania to invest $85M in road trauma care facilities

The Motor Accidents Insurance Board (MAIB) is launching an $85 million Supported Accommodation Renewal Project to upgrade four facilities dedicated to caring for individuals injured on Tasmanian roads.

The investment aims to provide modern, purpose-built accommodation and improve outcomes for Tasmanians living with serious injuries. The project will increase capacity from 29 to 36 client rooms and include additional carer rooms. These facilities offer 24/7 care, respite care, and supported independent living.

Construction is scheduled to begin in late September and is expected to be completed by mid-2029.
