Tasmanian toddler Emmett Perry sets new world record for longest golf drive

Two‑year‑old Emmett Perry from Tasmania drove a golf ball 110 metres at the Barnbougle course, surpassing the previous 108‑metre mark for his age group. The distance was verified with a laser rangefinder and recorded on video.

Emmett, coached by Brendon Hill at Launceston’s WillFit Golf Centre, has been swinging since he was about 18 months old. Hill said the boy shows “very natural ability, very athletic and a lot of coordination for someone that age.” After the record, Emmett later hit a 119‑metre drive and is now targeting the three‑year‑old record.

The family first took up golf after a rainy day visit to the centre, and the toddler’s talent quickly turned a casual outing into a serious pursuit.
