Tasmania's Deloraine, Devonport and Stanley win top tourism town awards

Deloraine, Devonport and Stanley have been honoured in the 2026 Tassie's Top Tourism Towns awards. Deloraine secured the title for a second consecutive year, recognised for its short‑walks focus, vibrant arts scene and heritage charm. Devonport was praised for its revitalised urban foreshore, cultural attractions such as the Tiagarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre, and its role as the main gateway for Spirit of Tasmania travellers. Stanley earned the People's Choice Award for the fourth year running, thanks to strong community support, fresh seafood, artisan produce and the iconic scenery of The Nut.

Veteran tourism figures Des Brown and Clint Walker attribute the success to collaborative community effort, a clear local identity and continual renewal, likening the process to coaching an AFL team. Both Devonport and Deloraine will advance to the national Australia’s Top Tourism Town Awards, to be announced later this year at Parliament House in Canberra.
