Tasos Jordanidis recounts encounter with medical fraudster
Greek actor and presenter Tasos Jordanidis shared a personal account on the program ‘Kalimera eipame?’ regarding a past encounter with a medical fraudster. Speaking alongside co-host Zoi Kronaki, Jordanidis recounted an incident from approximately 15 to 17 years ago when his mother took him to see a practitioner to test for food intolerances.
Jordanidis described the examination as surreal and pseudoscientific, noting that the practitioner simply had him raise his hands and then applied downward pressure while naming various foods, such as lentils. If his hands succumbed to the pressure, it was deemed proof of an intolerance. Despite the rudimentary method, the visit cost 500 euros.
Jordanidis noted that his mother remained skeptical of the process, and he recalled that the individual in question was brought to court just two weeks after their visit. He concluded by reflecting on consumer psychology, suggesting that high fees often create a false sense of legitimacy and expertise in patients.
