Taste of Transylvania food festival returns to Harghita in 2026

The fifth edition of the Taste of Transylvania food festival is scheduled to take place from September 3 to 6, 2026, at the Boroș Ethnographic Museum and Holiday Village in Lunca de Jos, Harghita County.

The event will feature nearly 50 gastronomic locations with participants from Romania, Transylvania, and Hungary. This year's theme focuses on mountain meadows, pastures, and the traditional practice of haymaking, which includes a communal haymaking session on Saturday, September 5.

Program highlights include the Joy Cooking segment, where chefs and local cooks prepare dishes using identical ingredients, and a new Freestyle area for spontaneous culinary creation. Other activities include interactive workshops, a community potato harvest, and children's programming. The festival serves as part of Harghita County's preparations to hold the title of European Region of Gastronomy in 2027. Transportation support includes free buses from Miercurea Ciuc and horse-drawn carriages from parking areas.
