tastytrade debuts CFTC‑regulated prediction markets
Brokerage tastytrade has launched a CFTC‑regulated prediction‑market platform, marking the first time a brokerage has used Apex Fintech Solutions’ turnkey futures‑clearing‑merchant (FCM) infrastructure for such products. The service offers 24/7 trading of simple yes‑or‑no contracts that settle alongside stocks, options and futures. Contracts cover financial catalysts such as equity indices, Treasury yields, the VIX, Fed, ECB, BoE and BoJ rate decisions, CPI, non‑farm payrolls, GDP and other economic releases, as well as major cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP) and commodities including gold, silver, copper, crude oil and natural gas. The platform deliberately excludes sports‑related contracts, focusing on finance and crypto markets. It operates under the oversight of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, with customer positions held in segregated accounts. “Customer demand for simple, directional trades is accelerating, and we built Prediction Markets for the way active traders already think,” said Pete Mulmat, Head of Brokerage at tastytrade. The offering is integrated into the existing tastytrade platform, allowing active traders to trade event contracts with defined risk and real‑time pricing.
