Tata Advanced Systems to co-produce Javelin missiles in India

Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Javelin Joint Venture—a partnership between Raytheon and Lockheed Martin—to explore the co-production of Javelin All Up Round (AUR) anti-tank missiles in India.

Under the agreement, the companies will investigate establishing a dedicated final assembly and integration facility in India, alongside potential local component manufacturing. The initiative aims to strengthen India’s defense industrial base and enhance regional stability in the Indo-Pacific.

The manufacturing process will integrate American and Indian supply chains. Lockheed Martin will continue producing sub-assembly kits in Alabama, and Raytheon will produce guidance electronics in Arizona. These components will then be shipped to India for final assembly. This move marks a transition in the India-U.S. defense relationship from simple platform acquisition to deeper industrial integration.
