Tata Electronics data breach exposes Apple iPhone 18 Pro designs

A ransomware group called World Leaks posted more than 200,000 files – over 630 GB – that it says were stolen from Tata Electronics, one of Apple’s largest manufacturers in India. The dump contains detailed engineering drawings, component specifications and test data for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, including the A20 Pro processor, the C2 (Ganymede) modem and references to Apple’s in‑house connectivity chips. Documents also cover designs for other customers such as Tesla, Nvidia, Qualcomm and TSMC.

Tata Electronics confirmed a “cyber‑security incident” to Reuters and the Indian government, saying production lines remain unaffected. The company has tightened access to sensitive systems, hired a global digital‑forensic firm, and is working with Apple’s security team to mitigate the breach. Apple has not disclosed the impact on its product schedule, but the leak raises concerns about the protection of proprietary technology in increasingly diversified supply chains.
