Tata Motors prepares to launch Aeris sedan to replace Tigor

Tata Motors is reportedly preparing to launch a new compact sedan, potentially named the Tata Aeris, which may replace the existing Tigor model. A trademark filing for ‘Tata Aeris’ for land vehicles and parts supports the possibility of a brand relaunch rather than a simple facelift.

The upcoming vehicle is expected to feature a refreshed design inspired by the Tiago, including slimmer headlamps, a glossy black grille, and a more upright front-end. Interior updates are anticipated to include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital driver display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and wireless charging. Safety features may include six standard airbags.

Mechanically, the Aeris is expected to retain the current 1.2-litre petrol and factory-fitted CNG engine options. The petrol variant is projected to deliver approximately 85 hp and 113 Nm of torque, while the CNG version is expected to provide around 74 hp and 96.5 Nm. The car will likely be offered with both manual and automatic transmission options. The expected price range is between 6 lakh and 10 lakh rupees, positioning it to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Honda Amaze.
