Tata Motors tests next-generation Nexon SUV prototype

Tata Motors has begun road testing for the next-generation Tata Nexon, a compact SUV expected to launch in 2027. The prototype, developed under the internal codename ‘Garud’, has been spotted undergoing testing under heavy camouflage.

The new model appears to feature significant structural and styling changes compared to the current version. Notable revisions include a more upright C-pillar and a redesigned rear door area, which may result in a more conventional SUV profile and improved rear-seat headroom. The current model’s coupe-inspired, sloping roofline may be replaced by a flatter rear windscreen and a more angular profile.

While the A-pillar shows a sharper transition toward the roof, suggesting deeper structural modifications rather than a simple facelift, the vehicle may still utilize a heavily modified version of Tata’s existing X1 architecture.
