Tata Sons accelerates search for N. Chandrasekaran's successor
Tata Sons has accelerated the search for a successor to current Chairman N. Chandrasekaran, whose term is scheduled to conclude on February 20, 2027. Chandrasekaran has indicated he will not seek re-appointment.
Three primary candidates have emerged in the selection process. Internal contenders include T.V. Narendran, the CEO and Managing Director of Tata Steel, and Saurabh Agarwal, the Executive Director and Group CFO of Tata Sons. An external candidate, Ashish Chauhan, the MD and CEO of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), is also reportedly being considered.
Noel Tata, Chairman of Tata Trusts, has reportedly shared the shortlisted names with top government leadership for deliberation. The final decision is expected to involve significant input from the Tata Sons board and the trusts that control the holding company.
