Tata Steel Zoological Park announces birth of three tiger cubs
A tigress named Sunaina has given birth to three cubs—two females and one male—at the Tata Steel Zoological Park in Jamshedpur. The cubs were born on the morning of September 23. The father of the cubs, Rudra, was brought to the zoo from the Gorewada Rescue Centre in Nagpur.
During the birth process, Sunaina accidentally injured one of the female cubs. Zoo doctors provided immediate medical treatment, including stitches, and reported that the cub is now out of danger with a weight of approximately 1.8 kg. The other two cubs are healthy, weighing roughly 2.53 kg and 2.9 kg respectively. Medical teams are continuously monitoring the health and safety of all three cubs via CCTV and direct observation.
To encourage community engagement and wildlife awareness, the zoo management has invited the public to suggest names for the three cubs. Suggestions can be submitted via WhatsApp or message to a designated number until October 19, 2026. The zoo will select the three best suggestions, and the winners will be honored with free entry passes and souvenirs.
