Tate brothers face expanded Romanian charges for trafficking and money laundering

Romanian prosecutors have broadened the case against Andrew and Tristan Tate, adding charges of money laundering, influencing witness statements, removal of seized assets and complicity in trafficking minors. The indictment accuses the brothers of recruiting women through a "lover boy method" and forcing them to produce webcam pornography, generating roughly $1.53 million. Tristan Tate is alleged to have recruited three victims between 2018 and 2021, while a 17‑year‑old victim was exploited by Andrew Tate from 2014 to 2021. Both brothers are also accused of intimidating dozens of witnesses to withdraw or falsify statements and of selling five luxury cars to buyers in the United Kingdom despite prohibition orders. DIICOT has seized those vehicles and announced that the two Romanian cases will be merged into a single proceeding, a final step before a new indictment is filed.

The expanded charges complement earlier accusations of human trafficking, rape and other violent offenses that have been under investigation since 2023, and they coincide with ongoing legal actions in the United Kingdom.
