Tate brothers denied bail in Miami amid UK extradition fight
A US federal judge in Miami has denied bail for social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate, ordering them to remain in custody while they contest extradition to the United Kingdom. US Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis ruled that the brothers, who hold dual US and UK citizenship, constitute a “quintessential flight risk” due to their significant financial resources and history of frequent international travel.
The Tates face a total of 59 criminal charges in the UK, including allegations of rape, human trafficking, and the distribution of indecent images of children. The UK authorities have until September 16 to submit a formal extradition request to the US Department of State.
In addition to the British proceedings, the brothers face separate legal challenges in Romania. Romanian authorities have indicted them in absentia on charges of human trafficking, money laundering, and sex offenses involving minors. Prosecutors in Romania allege that Andrew Tate recruited a 15-year-old girl in 2012 to produce pornographic content.
The Tate brothers have consistently denied all allegations across all jurisdictions. Their legal team has argued that their continued detention in the US creates a legal contradiction, as they are unable to properly prepare their defense for the ongoing Romanian proceedings while held in a US detention center.
