Tate brothers' lawyers seek bail in US amid UK extradition request

Lawyers for Andrew and Tristan Tate have filed a request in a U.S. court for the brothers to be released on bail while they navigate extradition proceedings to the United Kingdom. The brothers, currently detained in Miami, face accusations from British prosecutors involving human trafficking, physical assault, and sexual exploitation of four victims between 2010 and 2017.

Defense attorneys argue that the brothers' high level of notoriety makes a flight risk nearly impossible, stating that it would be "extremely difficult" for them to travel without being noticed. As part of the bail proposal, the lawyers suggested that the Tate brothers surrender their passports and agree to location monitoring.

Conversely, American prosecutors have requested that the men remain in custody, citing concerns regarding flight risk and public safety. Judge Lauren Louis has scheduled a hearing on the bail request for August 13. The extradition process to the UK may take several months, with British authorities facing a September 16 deadline to submit a complete request to the U.S. Department of State.
