Tati Machado discusses grief following the loss of her first child
Brazilian presenter Tati Machado has shared a personal account regarding the grief following the loss of her first child, Gael. In a video shared on social media, Machado discussed the challenges of being a “mãe de anjo” (angel mother), a term used for women who lose children during pregnancy or shortly after birth, noting that she does not particularly like the label.
Machado described the grieving process as something experienced “one hour at a time” rather than just one day at a time. She revealed that it took six months before she felt able to enter the room prepared for her son. She also touched upon the importance of physical connection, mentioning her desire to have held her baby longer, and the value of having concrete memories, such as photos from the delivery room.
Alongside influencer Karine Carrijo, who also experienced the loss of a child, Machado offered advice to those supporting others through similar trauma. She emphasized that listening is often more important than offering advice, stating, “You listen, you don't need to say anything. Speaking helps us heal.” Machado, who is currently six months pregnant with her second child, encouraged others to respect themselves and avoid self-blame during the grieving process.
