Tatjana Macura condemns insults against Jelena Janković

Tatjana Macura, Serbia’s Minister without portfolio for gender equality, has condemned insulting and derogatory messages directed at former world number one tennis player Jelena Janković. The insults followed Janković’s decision to support the promotion of the Expo 2027 exhibition.

Macura emphasized that Janković has represented Serbia with distinction throughout her career and that political differences should not justify the public discredit or personal harassment of successful women. The Minister noted that the way successful women are treated in the public sphere sends a significant message to young girls seeking their place in society.
