Tatort: New Ludwigshafen episode features explosive ATM heist

The German crime series ‘Tatort’ airs a new episode titled ‘Explosive Mischung’ set in Ludwigshafen. The plot follows investigators Lena Odenthal (Ulrike Folkerts) and Johanna Stern (Lisa Bitter) as they probe a failed ATM explosion that resulted in the death of a known criminal, Dennis Lohberg. The investigation focuses on a missing cash box and leads into a neighborhood where self-appointed vigilantes hold more influence than the police.

The episode features several guest stars, including Christian Schneeweiß as Ulf Meisner, a man acting as a local peacekeeper, and Juliette Larat as Fiona Markovic. The narrative explores themes of public authority, gang loyalty, and domestic violence, with much of the action occurring in near real-time over the course of a single evening.

As one of the longest-running investigators in the series, Ulrike Folkerts’ role is noted for its longevity, having played Odenthal since 1989. The episode is broadcast in Germany on Das Erste and in Austria via ORF 2.
