Tatort returns in September after 19‑week summer break

Germany’s long‑running ARD crime series Tatort will resume on 13 September 2026 after a 19‑week summer hiatus, the longest pause in its history. The break is attributed to the 2026 FIFA World Cup broadcast schedule.

The last episode aired in May was the Swiss‑set ‘Könige der Nacht.’ Upcoming autumn episodes will feature returning star Maria Furtwängler in the new case “König in Gelb,” alongside Fabian Hinrichs as Commissioner Felix Voss. A fresh Munich duo, played by Ferdinand Hofer and Carlo Ljubek, will debut, while veteran teams in Vienna (Harald Krassnitzer and Adele Neuhauser) and Munich (Ivo Batic and Franz Leitmayr) are slated for their final appearances.

Fans will be kept with repeats until the new season begins, marking a significant reshuffle of the series’ long‑standing casts.
