Tatra and Beskid mountains experience first snow and sudden temperature drops

The Tatra Mountains and Beskids regions have experienced a sudden shift to winter-like weather, marked by the arrival of the first snow and significant temperature drops. In the Slovak Tatra Mountains, snow cover has reached depths of over 20 centimeters in high-altitude areas due to strong winds, with temperatures at peaks like Lomnický štít dropping to approximately −6 °C.

In the Polish Tatras, snow has been reported above 1,600 meters, with meteorologists warning of strong northwesterly winds reaching up to 75 km/h and potential snowstorms. Temperatures on the summits have fallen near or below freezing. Similarly, the Beskid mountains have seen a sharp decline in temperature and deteriorating trail conditions, with fog and moisture reported by mountain rescue services.

While the sudden appearance of snow and hail has caused concern among tourists, meteorologists expect a warming trend toward the end of the week, which will likely cause the current snow cover to melt.
