Tatra Trucks unveils Force e-Drive BEV 8x8 electric off-road truck

Czech manufacturer Tatra Trucks has unveiled its first fully electric model, the Force e-Drive BEV 8x8. Designed specifically for extreme off-road environments, the vehicle utilizes Tatra’s signature chassis featuring a central backbone tube and independent swinging half-axles.

The 8x8 drivetrain includes two steerable front axles with connectable drive and two permanently driven rear axles. The system is supported by air suspension, individual differentials for each axle, and an interaxle differential. Power is provided by a Danfoss electric motor delivering a maximum of 737 hp (550 kW) and 2,600 Nm of torque. The powertrain combines an Eaton four-speed automated transmission with a secondary Tatra transmission to assist in difficult terrain.

Energy is supplied by 12 traction batteries with a total capacity of 480 kWh, providing an estimated driving range of 300 to 400 kilometers. The vehicle has a weight of approximately 22 tonnes and a maximum payload capacity of 22 tonnes.
