Tatsuki Fujimoto praises animated film ‘We are Aliens’

Manga artist Tatsuki Fujimoto, known for ‘Chainsaw Man’ and ‘Look Back’, has released a special discussion video with director Kohei Kadowaki regarding the animated film ‘We are Aliens’ (Japanese title: ‘Wareware wa Uchujin’).

In the video, which features the two discussing their creative processes over a meal, Fujimoto expressed high praise for the film, stating, “I thought nothing more interesting has come out in the last three years.” The film, which is the first feature-length animation from the film label ‘NOTHING NEW’, follows a 30-year friendship between two boys, Tsubasa and Akitaro, set in a rural town during the Heisei era.

Directed by Kadowaki, the film was officially selected for the Director's Fortnight section at the 79th Cannes Film Festival. It is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release in Japan on September 25, 2026.
