Tatsumi Fujinami to hold wrestling event at Torikai Hachimangu

Professional wrestler Tatsumi Fujinami, leader of the Dragition promotion, will hold a ‘Hounou Pro Wrestling’ (dedication wrestling) event at Torikai Hachimangu Shrine in Fukuoka on October 3, 2026. The event commemorates Fujinami’s 55th anniversary in professional wrestling and the successful completion of the shrine’s recent reconstruction and renovation.

The scheduled program includes a children’s wrestling class, dedication matches featuring Fujinami, a talk show, and an autograph session. Admission to the event is free.

This event draws historical parallels to the original ‘Hounou Pro Wrestling’ held by Rikidozan at Yasukuni Shrine in 1961, which featured early matches by legends such as Antonio Inoki and Giant Baba. This upcoming event in Fukuoka is framed as a continuation of that tradition, passing the baton from the era of Rikidozan to Fujinami.
