Tatsuya Murasa sets new Japanese 100m freestyle record

At the 102nd Japan Intercollegiate Swimming Championships held in Kadoma, Osaka, Tatsuya Murasa of Chuo University set a new Japanese record in the men's 100m freestyle. Swimming the first leg of the men's 4x100m freestyle relay, Murasa clocked 47.83 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 47.85 seconds set by Katsuo Matsumoto in April 2023. Chuo University went on to win the relay with a meet record time of 3:14.83.

Other notable performances included swimmers from the University of Tokyo. Koki Ito set a personal best in the men's 200m freestyle with a time of 1:54.88, and Kento Morihara achieved a personal best in the men's 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:05.37. Haru Ono, the team captain, competed in her final race in the women's 200m butterfly, finishing second with a time of 2:19.54.
