Arm architecture surpasses x86 in AI server market

The artificial intelligence landscape is undergoing rapid structural shifts across infrastructure, security, and workforce dynamics. Arm architecture has emerged as a dominant force in accelerated computing, with IDC reporting that Arm-based rack-scale servers have surpassed x86 in this market. To support the rise of Agentic AI, NVIDIA and Arm are collaborating on security frameworks. The NVIDIA Open Agent Safety Platform utilizes OpenShell to establish execution boundaries, while Arm-based Data Processing Units (DPUs) provide independent monitoring, isolation, and security policy enforcement to protect AI agent workloads.

Infrastructure requirements are also evolving, with TrendForce predicting liquid cooling penetration in AI chips will reach 53% by 2026. Meanwhile, the economic model of AI is shifting as inference costs drop significantly; research from Epoch AI indicates costs have been falling at a rate that exceeds Moore’s Law.

However, organizational adoption faces hurdles. GFT Technologies reports that 84% of global CIOs and CTOs have canceled AI pilots due to legacy system limitations. In Taiwan, Nutanix research shows that while 74% of companies are planning AI projects, 60% face a shortage of professional AI talent and nearly half struggle with cost management. Additionally, the rise of AI is reshaping the labor market, with concerns regarding the displacement of administrative roles and a growing need for workers who can supervise and validate AI outputs.
