Tatvan opens new seafarers examination center
A new Seafarers Examination Center has been established under the Tatvan Port Authority in the Bitlis province of Turkey. The facility is designed to serve maritime professionals working in the Lake Van Basin, as well as the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions.
The center aims to reduce the need for mariners to travel to other provinces for certification, providing significant savings in time and transportation costs. According to Tatvan Port Authority Head Yusuf Yılmaz, the center will host various competency and license upgrade examinations, including those for captains, officers, marine engine watchkeeping engineers, chief engineers, pilotage, Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), and crew classes.
