Tauernradweg cycling route spans from Krimml Waterfalls to Passau
The Tauernradweg offers a 300-kilometer cycling route starting from the Krimml Waterfalls in Austria and ending in Passau, Germany. The path follows rivers descending from the High Tauern mountains, passing through meadows, lakes, and historic sites.
Key landmarks along the route include Zell am See, the Hohenwerfen Castle, and the salt mines in Hallein. The journey continues through Salzburg, where cyclists can explore Baroque architecture and the birthplace of Mozart, before following the river along the border between Austria and Germany toward Passau.
A loop variant is also available, traveling through the Saalach valley via Bad Reichenhall, Lofer, and Saalfelden back to Zell am See, with the Pinzgau train providing assistance for the return leg.
