Taufik Hidayat faces trial for sexual violence and aggravated assault

Taufik Hidayat appeared for his first hearing at the Bale Bandung District Court on Wednesday, facing cumulative charges of sexual violence and aggravated assault against Yuvita Tri Rezeki. The prosecution has filed charges under the Sexual Violence Crimes Law (TPKS), the new Criminal Code, and other relevant statutes.

The victim, Yuvita Tri Rezeki, reportedly suffered severe physical injuries during the period of abuse between 2024 and 2026, resulting in the loss of her ability to speak, hear, and walk normally. Prosecutors are considering whether the victim will testify in person or via video link to protect her mental health and physical recovery.

Taufik's legal counsel announced plans to file an exception (objection) to the indictment. The defense stated that the move is intended to protect the defendant's legal rights rather than to defend the alleged criminal acts. The prosecution intends to call 20 witnesses, including five experts, to substantiate the charges.
