Taunton Courts Issue Sentences to Multiple Somerset Offenders
Taunton Crown Court and the nearby magistrates' courts in Somerset handed down a series of sentences this week. Offenders in Bridgwater and surrounding areas received various penalties, including a 32‑week custodial term for Lee Ravenhill for failing to comply with police registration requirements, a community order and the destruction of a knuckleduster for 22‑year‑old Thomas Pearce, and fines and forfeiture orders for Mark Thompson after pleading guilty to possession of cannabis and ketamine. Additional penalties were imposed on Kaine Timewell and Joseph Packman for disorderly behaviour.
In a separate case, Edward Lane, 33, of Wellington, was sentenced in Taunton Crown Court for sexual assault and common assault. He received a two‑year‑one‑month jail term and a two‑month term, both suspended for two years, and was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years, undergo rehabilitation activity, and comply with a ten‑year restraining order that bans contact with the victim and entry to private residences without permission.
