Tauragė receives 20 million euros from European Investment Bank

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has provided 20 million euros to the Tauragė municipality to modernize urban infrastructure and promote sustainable mobility. This funding is part of a larger investment program valued at over 110 million euros, utilizing both European Union and municipal funds.

The municipality plans to use the resources to expand the bicycle path network, purchase eco-friendly public transport vehicles, and revitalize the Jūra riverbank. Additionally, the funds will support the renovation of schools and public buildings, as well as the expansion of water supply and wastewater management services.

Tauragė is one of 100 EU municipalities participating in the Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities, aiming to become a climate-neutral innovation center by 2030. The EIB financing also contributes to the EastInvest initiative, which seeks to strengthen the resilience, economic development, and territorial cohesion of eastern border regions.
