Taurianova International Madonnari Competition Unveiled

The 11th International Madonnari Competition was presented in Taurianova on July 31 at Villa Zerbi. The event, recognized as a regional cultural activity, will turn the town’s main street into a living canvas from July 31 to August 2 under the theme “The world with human eyes, between sacred and lived.”

Mayor Domenico Romeo, regional assessor Eulalia Micheli (who will also serve as a jury co‑president), artistic director Antonella Larosa, and Giacomo Carioti, president of the organizing Association Amici del Palco, attended the launch. Officials highlighted the competition’s role in promoting the territory, boosting tourism and local commerce, and fostering community participation through art.

The presentation emphasized that cultural initiatives like the Madonnari contest can generate economic opportunities, involve schools and citizens, and enhance Taurianova’s visibility beyond its borders.
