TAURON H2 and PKM Tychy partner on hydrogen transport
TAURON H2 and the public transport operator PKM Tychy have signed a letter of intent to cooperate on the development of a hydrogen economy in Poland. The agreement focuses on the potential use of renewable hydrogen, including fuels meeting the EU definition of Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO), for urban public transport.
PKM Tychy currently operates five hydrogen-powered buses on regular lines and is gathering operational data to assess fuel consumption and maintenance costs. TAURON H2 plans to support this transition by developing a 20 MW electrolyzer and associated infrastructure at the Jaworzno III Power Plant, a project expected to launch in the second half of 2029.
To support these hydrogen initiatives, TAURON H2 secured a grant of approximately 128 million PLN from Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego in September 2025.
