Poland advances energy and infrastructure projects

Poland is undergoing significant energy and infrastructure transformations across various sectors. In the energy sector, Tauron has signed a contract exceeding 300 million PLN to build a modern heat source in Jaworzno. This project, to be executed by AB Industry, will include gas-oil boilers, electric boilers, and a 400 MWh heat storage system to replace coal-based sources by the 2028/2029 heating season.

In the nuclear sector, Westinghouse has issued preliminary orders to four Polish companies—Energomontaż-Północ Gdynia, FAMAK, Mostostal Kielce, and Mostostal Kraków—to manufacture safety-critical modules for the first nuclear power plant in Pomerania. These firms are working to meet American NQA-1 quality standards.

Regional infrastructure developments include a nearly 30 million PLN sewage treatment plant project in Głowno, Łódź Voivodeship, and over 5.2 million PLN in eco-investments for five municipalities in the Jelenia Góra region to build domestic sewage treatment plants. Additionally, industry experts at Energy Days in Katowice highlighted the need for massive investment in the heating sector, estimated between 200 and 500 billion PLN, while noting regulatory challenges in implementing EU directives.
