Tauron reports record shift to multi-zone electricity tariffs
More than 100,000 households have switched from single-zone to multi-zone electricity tariff groups within Tauron this year, marking a record increase compared to previous periods. By selecting multi-zone options such as G12w or G13, households can potentially reduce their annual electricity bills by up to 20 percent, which equates to an average saving of approximately 500 PLN per year.
Mariusz Purat, CEO of Tauron Sales, noted that the trend reflects growing consumer interest in flexible energy consumption. The company encourages customers to shift energy usage to hours and days when electricity is cheaper, which also promotes the use of energy during periods of higher availability from renewable sources.
Experts suggest that multi-zone tariffs are particularly beneficial for homes equipped with heat pumps, electric boilers, accumulation heating, or electric vehicle charging stations. Despite these benefits, data from the Polish Organization for the Development of Heat Pump Technologies indicates that over 60 percent of heat pump owners in Poland still utilize the standard single-zone G11 tariff.
