Tauron shifts prosumer billing to monthly actual consumption

Tauron has implemented a significant change to its billing system for prosumers in Poland. Starting September 1, 2026, all prosumers connected to the Tauron Dystrybucja network will be billed on a monthly cycle based on actual meter readings rather than estimated forecasts.

This transition affects customers who previously operated on 2, 6, or 12-month billing periods. The change follows the distribution tariff approved by the Energy Regulatory Office for 2026. Because the system is moving from estimates to real-time data, customers may see fluctuations in their bills due to seasonal energy production, particularly with solar installations. Some users may receive two invoices in quick succession as the company closes out previous billing cycles.

Separately, the broader Polish energy market is seeing shifts following the expiration of the state-funded price freeze shield on January 1. Average energy prices have stabilized at higher levels, with the President of the Energy Regulatory Office approving an average price of 495.16 PLN per megawatt-hour.
