TAV Havalimanları celebrates 20 years at Ankara Esenboğa Airport

TAV Havalimanları celebrated 20 years of operating Ankara Esenboğa Airport with a ceremony attended by aviation officials and local leaders. Since beginning operations in 2006, the airport has served approximately 233 million passengers and facilitated roughly 1.7 million flights.

The airport's connectivity has expanded to 91 destinations across 35 countries. Passenger numbers have seen significant growth, rising from 4.5 million in 2006 to a projected 14 million in 2025. According to ACI Europe statistics, Esenboğa is among the top five fastest-growing airports in Europe, with international passenger traffic increasing by 12% and domestic traffic by 7% in the first eight months of this year.

Following a successful tender in 2022, TAV Havalimanları has extended its operating rights for the airport until May 2050. Recent infrastructure investments totaling 230 million euros have introduced a new air traffic control tower and a third runway, which entered service in January. The airport also serves as a primary operational base for AJet.
