Tava’i shootout leaves two dead and four injured

A violent shootout in the San Roque neighborhood of Tava’i, Caazapá, has left two people dead and four others injured. The incident occurred on a Saturday evening near a car wash when two individuals on a motorcycle opened fire on a group gathered by a vehicle. The ensuing exchange of gunfire was captured by security cameras.

Among the deceased is 29-year-old Justo Pastor Bogado Ortigoza. The second fatality is identified as Julio César Ortega Servián, a suspected hitman who died after sustaining two gunshot wounds to the head. Police believe Ortega Servián was part of the inner security circle for the wanted drug trafficker Felipe Santiago Acosta Riveros, also known as ‘Macho’.

The four injured individuals—Julio César Sanabria Torales, Marcos González Acosta, Julián Vega Ríos, and Aureliano González Acosta—were transported to the San Juan Nepomuceno District Hospital. Authorities are currently searching for a second suspect who fled the scene and are attempting to locate a suspected 5.56 mm caliber rifle used in the attack.
