Tavas Municipality seeks investment for branded sheep yogurt

Tavas Municipality is calling for private sector investment to scale the production and international distribution of Yanık Kokulu Tavas Koyun Yoğurdu, a sheep yogurt that received geographical indication registration in 2024.

Tavas Mayor Kadir Tatık noted a significant increase in consumer interest, stating that internet searches for the product have risen 5,000-fold. However, he emphasized that for the product to become a sustainable global brand, production must be continuous throughout the entire 12-month year.

The municipality aims to support entrepreneurs who establish production facilities in rural areas, offering assistance with infrastructure and local logistics. Tatık clarified that while the municipality has built the promotional foundation, private investors are needed to manage the complex supply chains involving milk collection from thousands of sheep breeders, as well as the subsequent production, trade, and distribution processes.
