Campania faces multiple fires in Taburno massif and Naples

The Campania region is facing multiple environmental emergencies due to a series of significant fires. In the Taburno-Camposauro massif, large-scale wildfires have threatened residential areas in Foglianise and the San Michele Arcangelo sanctuary. Emergency responders, including the Vigili del Fuoco and Civil Protection, have been working to contain multiple fronts of fire in the Sannio area.

Simultaneously, a recurring fire emergency has struck the Taverna del Re waste storage site in Giugliano. This marks the second major blaze at the site in just fifteen days. The site, which is under judicial seizure, has raised serious health concerns; previous monitoring by Arpac revealed dioxin levels significantly exceeding scientific safety references. Local officials and political leaders are demanding greater transparency and a definitive plan for the removal of waste bales.

In Naples, a major industrial fire broke out in the Poggioreale and Gianturco districts, involving warehouses and transport company vehicles. While no injuries were reported, the blaze caused extensive property damage and produced a massive smoke plume visible across the city. Environmental agencies are currently monitoring air quality to assess the impact of potential toxins released during the incident.
