TAWA distributes 2.47 billion Shillings in tourism revenue to Tanzanian communities

The Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) has distributed 2.47 billion Tanzanian Shillings to various beneficiaries of tourism revenue for the month of July 2026. The funds were allocated to 11 Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs), 18 villages, and 21 district councils to support conservation efforts and community development projects.

Acting Commissioner Mlage Kabange noted that during the 2025/26 fiscal year, a total of 12.17 billion Shillings had been provided to tourism beneficiaries. To enhance wildlife control, TAWA also deployed 27 drone bees and increased its workforce by adding 661 new wardens and supporting 187 village wardens.

In a separate development, the Yas Tanzania Tumaini Campaign reached Zanzibar, delivering maternity equipment to the Mwera Pongwe District Hospital. The donation included examination beds, maternity chairs, linens, delivery trays, and khangas to support the approximately 300 expectant mothers treated at the facility each month.
