Tawang District Review of Child Protection and Immunisation Programs

National Human Rights Commission member Priyank Kanoongo visited Tawang district and met with Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo and department heads to assess the implementation of child‑protection measures. The review covered the Child Helpline, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Child Welfare Committee, and the promotion of mother‑tongue education in early childhood care.

In a separate meeting, Deputy Commissioner Angmo chaired the District Task Force for Immunisation (DTFI), directing the health department to expand awareness campaigns, counter myths about vaccines, and increase outreach in remote villages. She also called for a comprehensive assessment of health‑facility staffing and infrastructure, accelerated completion of projects under the Vibrant Villages Programme, and a roadmap to achieve National Quality Assurance Standards certification for district health centres.
