Tawassoul party launches political campaign against corruption and term limit changes
The National Rally for Reform and Development (Tawassoul) has launched its political season centered on three core principles: opposition to corruption, opposition to restrictions on freedoms, and opposition to a third presidential mandate. The announcement was made during a meeting at the party's central headquarters in Nouakchott, involving party leadership, regional federations, and youth and women's organizations.
Tawassoul President Dr. Hamadi Ould Sidi El Moctar emphasized that any attempt to bypass constitutional limits on presidential terms would represent a significant setback for democratic stability. The party also highlighted urgent socio-economic concerns, including rising living costs, unemployment, and deteriorating access to essential services such as water and electricity.
Additionally, the party leadership criticized the government's response to international economic pressures and warned of food security risks due to rainfall deficits. They called for a reduction in non-priority public spending and better resource allocation to support the population.
