Tawfieq mosque in Belgium vandalized with swastikas and hate messages

The Tawfieq mosque in Schelle, located in Belgium’s Antwerp province, was targeted in a vandalism attack involving hate speech and symbols. On a Friday morning, mosque board members discovered swastikas and hateful messages painted on the building’s doors and windows. Additionally, dog feces were scattered in front of the entrance.

Mosque officials photographed the damage before cleaning the site to allow Friday prayers to proceed. A formal complaint has been filed with the police. The Rupel police confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators.

Mohamed Amin Chaib, chairman of Muslim Rights Watch Belgium, condemned the act, describing it as “Muslim hatred in its purest form” rather than an isolated act of vandalism. The organization plans to file its own complaint and has called for increased security measures for mosques.
