Tax authorities in Colombia and Argentina implement new refund and withholding measures
In Colombia, taxpayers can claim tax refunds from the DIAN when income tax returns result in a surplus due to withholdings, advances, or other credits. Taxpayers have three options: requesting a direct refund, compensating the balance against other tax obligations, or transferring it to the following year's declaration. To request a refund, the taxpayer must ensure their RUT is updated and formal, then use the DIAN's electronic service to complete Form 010, providing supporting documents such as bank certifications and withholding records.
In Argentina, the Buenos Aires Collection Agency (ARBA) and Banco Provincia have implemented a measure to eliminate bank withholdings on special accounts held by real estate agencies. Effective September 18, 2026, this policy targets funds received for rentals, sales, and deposits. By using a specific banking product developed with Banco Provincia, agencies can separate client funds from their own business income, preventing the accumulation of difficult-to-compensate fiscal credits and improving liquidity within the real estate sector.
