Tax official Manish Kumar Jain raided by Lokayukta in Madhya Pradesh

Lokayukta police conducted raids on Tuesday morning across Jabalpur, Bhopal, and Sagar targeting Manish Kumar Jain, a commercial tax official currently posted in Damoh. The investigation follows complaints regarding disproportionate assets.

Initial findings reveal that Jain’s total expenditure amounts to approximately 3.78 crore rupees, which is 264.64% higher than his declared legal income of approximately 1.03 crore rupees. The raids, which began at 6:00 AM, have uncovered a vast network of properties held in the names of family members.

Assets identified include land in Jabalpur valued at approximately 1.43 crore rupees, as well as multiple plots, a luxury bungalow, and a residential flat in Bhopal registered under his wife, Nidhi Jain. In Sagar district, a permanent house was found to have been constructed on land purchased in the name of his parents. Investigators also identified significant investments in vehicles and various life insurance policies.

Three specialized teams are currently examining bank records, lockers, and financial documents to trace the sources of these funds. A case has been registered under sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
