Taxi driver rams Taipei District Prosecutors Office in protest
A 53-year-old taxi driver, identified by the surname Shao, was arrested early this morning after intentionally ramming a vehicle into the gates of the Taipei District Prosecutors Office. The incident occurred around 5:46 AM. No injuries were reported as no one was loitering near the entrance at the time of the collision.
Preliminary investigations suggest the driver acted out of dissatisfaction with a recent court ruling. The taxi featured slogans such as “the officials force the people to rebel” and “the judiciary is dead.” Shao had reportedly expressed his frustration on social media following a verdict issued the previous day and was seen waiting outside the prosecutor's office before the attack.
Police have seized the vehicle and transferred Shao to the prosecutor's office on suspicion of obstructing public duties, threatening public safety, and property damage. Authorities are continuing to investigate the exact motive behind the incident.
