Taxi driver shot dead in Quito; armed robbery hits Paraguay warehouse

In Quito's La Josefina district, a 43‑year‑old taxi driver was killed and his 38‑year‑old passenger seriously injured after being attacked by occupants of a red Chevrolet Spark. Police recovered a stolen Chevrolet Spark, three mobile phones and a black Tundra Cross X200i motorcycle as evidence, but no suspects have been arrested yet. The investigation continues, with authorities examining security‑camera footage and possible links to micro‑traffic disputes.

In Mariano Roque Alonso, Paraguay, a group of about 15 heavily armed criminals stormed a DNIT depot, stealing mobile phones, weight‑loss products and other goods. During the assault a police officer was wounded in the abdomen. Under police pressure the gang abandoned three vehicles—a Hyundai Tucson, a Hilux and a third vehicle—while fleeing on foot. The stolen items included phones and a firearm, and several of the cars had been reported stolen earlier.
