Taxiarches Monastery robbed of precious artifacts in Serifos

Three perpetrators carried out a rapid burglary at the historic Taxiarches Monastery on the island of Serifos, stealing dozens of precious religious artifacts in approximately 90 seconds.

Security footage shows the suspects used a wooden ladder to scale the monastery walls. The individuals, wearing hoods, gloves, and face coverings, appeared to have intimate knowledge of the site. After entering the Holy Temple, they attempted to break the bulletproof glass protecting an icon of Archangel Gabriel but instead bypassed the lock to seize the items.

The stolen goods include dozens of gold rings, bracelets, necklaces, and enkolpia. Authorities are currently investigating the footage from four security cameras to identify and locate the suspects.
