Taxiarhis hosts 43rd annual Mushroom Festival

The village of Taxiarhis hosted its 43rd annual Mushroom Festival, a celebration of local nature, tradition, and gastronomy. The event was organized by local associations under the auspices of the Municipality of Poligyrvos and the Regional Unit of Chalkidiki.

Activities included a Mushroom Party at the Taxiarhis Open Theater and a seminar led by Nikos Athanasiadis of Forest Garden. Local culinary highlights featured mushroom pies, mushroom soup, risotto, and various dishes prepared by volunteers, including mushroom-based specialties served at the village's traditional wood-fired oven.

The festivities concluded with traditional dances performed by cultural associations from Taxiarhis, Poligyrvos, and Polytsylos, followed by a traditional celebration with live music. Mayor Giorgos Emmanouil emphasized the importance of preserving such traditions to highlight the natural beauty and heritage of the Holomontas region.
