Tay Ninh develops drought and salinity intrusion response plans

Tay Ninh provincial authorities are developing emergency response plans to combat drought and saltwater intrusion for the 2026-2027 dry season. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Minh Lam, has directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to prepare for high-risk scenarios similar to the historic 2019-2020 period.

Key measures include monitoring water levels and salinity on the Vam Co Dong and Vam Co Tay rivers, managing the Dau Tieng – Phuoc Hoa irrigation system, and operating sluice gates to store freshwater during low tides. The province is also prioritizing forest fire prevention and providing technical guidance to protect crops and livestock from saline water.
